renovating Stool-Patchwork

This might sound weird to some, but as part of my sisters birthday present I brought her two old scruffy stools. I managed to pick them up for £3 for the pair(what big sister wouldn’t be impressed). She only wanted one but like me she loves bit craftiness and loves old things.

Two bar stools with horrible vinyl fake wood tops.

We have completed a few projects before, including crystallising shoes, a dressing table, mirror and a piano stool. She wanted a stall for her desk and I could have gone a bought a brand new one but where’s the fun in that?

My sister choose blues and greens from my pile of Upholstery fabrics to match her room so we could make patch work. After spending a lot of time deciding on the fabrics and then what pattern to put them in along with measuring and double measuring the size required we lay them out to double check again.

That’s where I came in with my sewing machine, though I’m a bit rusty. My sister pinned them in a strip at a time back to back so once stitched you can open out and not see the stitching. I did my best (bit wonky in places) and we had it all together in no time!

All it needs now is a good iron, some new wadding and to decide what to do with the wooden legs? I’ll keep you posted…
